Methodology

The Marine Biodiversity Series presents a suite of indicators, spanning from environmental indicators such as nutrients and selected pollutants, to biodiversity indicators, to fisheries and economic and social indicators. The report was also added on the main page of our professional letter writer service.

The focus of the reporting is on developing a framework for extraction of indicators from all existing and some potential UNEP Regional Seas, and for applying this framework for extraction of indicators from all existing and some potential UNEP Regional Seas, and for applying this framework to extract in excess of twenty indicators for each of the Regional Seas.

The work builds on a large number of spatial databases most of which have been developed with a fisheries perspective through the Sea Around us, a project at the University British Columbia.

Indicator selection is developed to be a resource for the individual UNEP Regional Seas programs in their reporting to the CBD 2010 COP 10 in Nagoya, while we anticipate that the framework we have developed for this activity will be of direct relevance also for subsequent reporting.
